Jimmie Kennedy is recognized as one of the most prominent speakers and entertainers in the Southwest. For some thirty years her reviews have been highly acclaimed throughout Texas and cities across the nation. Among others she has reviewed in New York City, Washington, D.C., Rapid City, S. D., Chicago, Atlantic City, Miami, and New Orleans.
Jimmie offers many review selections. Her latest is A
Lady, First by Lititia Baldridge.
It has been said that she was born to perform. Her early years were spent in Canada where at the age of nine she was already involved in the Children’s Theatre of Toronto. She was also a regular participant on a Toronto radio program on Saturday mornings.
Her family moved to Dallas when she was thirteen. Almost immediately she became involved in Little Theatre work. She was active in Sanger’s Teenage Theatre and won “Best Actress of the Year.”
She won a scholarship to the Dallas Little Theatre School of Theatre where she studied under the tutelage of Charles Meredith.
She graduated from the Cox Academy of Drama and studied drama at Southern Methodist University.
She was the runner-up to Gayle Storm in movie-producer Jesse L. Lasky’s Gateway to Hollywood Contest. This contest launched Miss Storm on her career in the movies by providing her with the contract for her first motion picture.
Jimmie Kennedy has traveled extensively over the United States doing her reviews for large convention audiences and she is convinced, from first hand experience, that Dallas is the finest city there is.
She is a member of the Dallas Woman’s Club and the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club.
She was married to the late, L.M. Kennedy, a dentist and is the mother of a
daughter and a son. She has three grandchildren – a girl and two boys -- all three, of course, SUPERIOR.
